Auditions
We have ongoing auditions for all voice types. From these, we fill member positions as they become open, and maintain a list of singers to serve as subs for individual concert cycles, or to supplement the size of the ensemble when needed.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Madrigalia, a 18-24 member ensemble, rehearses on Sunday evenings from September through late May/early June.
We place a premium on our blended sound, and sing with raised soft palates (think Julia Child), vertical vowels, and, most of the time, with no vibrato.
We sing in mixed formation much of the time, often in 8 parts, so one should be solid in independent singing.
Members of Madrigalia are strong readers, which allows us to learn, quickly, works with rhythmic, intervallic, and stylistic challenges.
We welcome curious minds and convivial spirits.
THE PROCESS:
Contact Cary Ratcliff to set up a time for your audition. You may bring a vocal solo or choral work of your own to sing, if you like, but that is not necessary. You will vocalize a little, sing the prepared selection(s), and do a bit of sight singing. Cary will do his best to make you comfortable: we want you at your best!
